Pangolins are the world’s most trafficked mammals, and in Uganda, they’re on the brink of disappearing due to illegal hunting, habitat loss, and slow reproduction. Their scales are falsely believed to have medicinal value, making them targets for poachers, despite being fully protected by law. With only one baby born at a time, they can’t recover quickly from this pressure. Without urgent action and public awareness, these shy, harmless creatures could vanish forever. Protecting pangolins means protecting Uganda’s natural heritage—before it’s too late.
